ARcolinuxb deepin revisited
Now the iso , packages and tutorials for Xmonad have been created, it was time to make the tutorials about deepin. It was an ideal time to take another look at deepin and see what we can improve before making the tutorials.
Deepin can be a very eye-candy desktop just of the box. With some minor tweaking you can change it to your liking.
We have added a bunch of
- keyboard shortcuts
- personal arcolinux-config-deepin package
- theming settings for deepin-terminal
- figured out that qt5ct is better NOT installed on Deepin
- Sardi and Surfn icons have been created for Deepin desktop
- Deepin filemanager has its own icon now
- …
Arcolinux auditing group
AAG is the response on your demand.
ArcoLinux users have asked to get access to the beta versions of ArcoLinux.
Only Betatesters get access to those.
You will get access to the ready-to-be-released isos one week before release.
grub ArcoLinux vimix theme
The developer of Vimix was kind enough to include our ArcoLinux, ArcoLinuxD and ArcoLinuxB logos.
Now grub will recognize the operating system and provide the correct icon for the distro on that partition.
Later I experimented with other wallpapers and choose 8 wallpapers. Our package is build upon the work and expertise of Vince. With minor changes we get more flexibility.
sudo pacman -S arcolinux-grub-theme-vimix-git
You have 8 background choices to decorate your grub. Single boot or dual boot your grub will look great.
Tutorials will follow.
grub slaze theme on AUR
This design project resulted in a spinoff called grub-theme-slaze-git. We created an AUR package to install the grub theme slate. Any Arch Linux based system can install this package from AUR.
yay -S grub-theme-slaze-git
compton 4 to 5
We started out with a compton.conf that was the same for all 5 desktops
- awesome
- bspwm
- i3
- openbox
- xmonad
Soon we realized that we had to make adjustments to the compton.conf depending on the desktop but also depending how they react on Virtualbox.
We will probably make more adjustments until we find the “sweet spot”. Users are encouraged to do just the same. Experiment with the settings until they are suited for your HARDWARE.
See tutorials about compton.

What is new in .bin?
New fun script
New fun scripts called thebat and thebats2 have been added
stay-rolling folder
When working with the ArcoLinux torrents at seedhost we discovered a better, faster and more eye-candy application in Qbittorrent.
For people that do not do a clean install we have added a script called :
~/.bin/stay-rolling/19.1-to-19.2/stay-rolling-vx.sh
It will remove transmission and install qbittorrent.
See the rolling release videos at the bottom of the page.
